News The Interfaith Connection, JCC San Francisco

The Interfaith Connection has been providing programs at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco for over ten years, and we are particularly proud that the San Fransisco Jewish Community has offered a welcoming point for interfaith couples. These programs give couples and families an opportunity to explore how they can connect or if indeed they wish to connect to the Jewish community. Speaking and working with these very earnest couples is personally a joy, and I am always aware that they are involved in a proccess whose final results are not always discernable. Especially impressive is the courage they display in facing issues rather than ignoring them, and attempting to come to some resolutions.

The Interfaith Connections offers a variety of programs to help with that resolution.

  • A Discussion Series for Interfaith Couples that meets for seven weeks to explore issues in depth. A second discussion series, Raising children in an intermarriage, is also offered.

  • Holiday celebration workshops are held to teach the non-Jewish partner the rituals, traditions, history and foods associated with the holiday.

  • Panel discussions and lecutres of topical interest are provided throughout the year.
  • The greatest reward is the thanks couples express for just answering the telephone and being there for them.
